Attendance Policy

Attendance Guidelines for Grades K-5

Attendance will be taken. While work times are flexible, students should demonstrate consistent progress toward completion of work. Students are expected to log in to their Seesaw account each day.  Attendance will be tracked through engagement in and completion of assignments. All lessons need to be completed within 24 hours of assignment unless other arrangements are made with the teacher. To be counted present, students must engage in the daily assignments and attend the online class meetings.

Incomplete daily lessons or missed online meetings can result in an absence.

Absentee Procedures:

  • After 2 days of student inactivity, the teacher will notify the parent to communicate the concern and expectation that the student must participate in online learning on a daily basis to make academic progress. If direct contact is not made initially, a return email or phone call from the parent is required within 24 hours.
  • After 4 days, if there is not a response from the parent and/or the student does not actively participate in online learning, the teacher will report to the RPS Virtual Learning Principal who will contact the parent.
  • After 6 days, if there is not a response from the parent and/or the student does not actively participate in online learning, a conference will be held with the parent, teacher, and administrator to discuss academic progress and concerns.
  • After 10 days, if there is not a response from the parent, and/or the student does not actively participate in online learning, the RPS Virtual Learning Principal will involve the Rogers Public Schools Social Worker.

**Rogers School District Student Policy JE - School officials are authorized to contact the prosecuting authority, juvenile authorities, or social service agencies at any time if parents are not making reasonable efforts to encourage regular attendance by students.
